December Favorites

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and with Thanksgiving being so late, there are only a few weeks to fit all of the Holiday fun in. Here are our some of our picks for celebrating the season, no matter the reason!

Holiday Lights

I love the idea of getting in Christmas pajamas, making hot chocolate and driving around looking at Christmas lights, but let's be honest my kids do not want to be strapped into their car seats where they can barely see while me and my husband try to harmonize on Baby It's Cold Outside (the new John Legend/Kelly Clarkson version, of course). Instead we need to go places we can get out and run around.

Lights, reindeer, trains and more are at Cheekwood's Holiday LIGHTS. You will get to experience an entire mile of beautiful lights throughout their gardens, REAL reindeer, the North Pole Express train display, carolers and decorations all throughout the grounds.

London's Lights is an incredible display of more than 300,000 lights in Lavergne, TN that honors the life of London, a little girl that passed away in a tragic accident. It is FREE to go, but an unwrapped toy donation is encouraged. Santa will be there on Saturday nights and they will be hosting a special needs night on December 14.

Holiday Bar Hopping

There are quite a few bars having Christmas pop-ups this year. Von Elrod's has enclosed and heated their patio and with a spiked mocha mint hot chocolate and Alpine Forest photo booth, it is a great spot to go since they are family friendly all the time.

One of our top picks this year is Headquarters Nashville. Not only is Rudolph allowed at these Reindeer Games, but kids are allowed from 4p-6p Monday-Thursday! With Christmas decoration installations, themed cocktails, games and more, it is a great place to feel festive indoors.

If you can get a babysitter check out the downtown area hotels with Bobby Hotel's Winter Nordic Village, the Noelle's Miracle at Hidden Bar's Christmas Candyland or Dream Nashville's Parlour Bar's Gingerbread House.

Gaylord Opryland Resort

There is no place like Opryland for the holidays! If you want to splurge, book a room and get a package that includes the indoor waterpark, Soundwaves or Rudolph the Musical at the Grand Ole Opry. You can also add on ICE!, the incredible ice sculpture display featuring A Christmas Story or visit the new Pinetop Village that has snow tubing, ice skating, a train ride and more.

However, don't forget that it is FREE to go and see the lights!! We even have a trick for you to park for free, park at the Opry Mills Mall near the movie theater and follow the path towards ICE!, it will take you right to the resort.
